Relaxation is the foundation of good health.
Today during my morning stretching, I was reminded of the violence we can do to our bodies when we push ourselves in a direction that is not respecting our body and listening to the heart.
It is clear that the most important thing you can do for your health and wellbeing is to listen to what your body and heart are telling you. If you don’t listen, you will ultimately go against your own self and what is best for you.
This is true for when being on a yoga mat, when choosing what to eat, saying yes or no to friends and family, or when you are making choices for your life or your daily actions.
Gentle yoga is a good reminder for me that it’s not about doing the right posture, it is about how YOUR body wants to move in that specific form. Forcing your body into a form will not bring the most relaxation and it’s a violent act. If you force, you’re listening to your mind, an idea about what should be, instead of listening to your body and finding a position that makes your body and mind relax.
Relaxation is a foundation for health and to lose weight ;).
So today I invite you to reflect upon this and ask yourself if you are trying to be something you are not or do something that does not resonate with you. And why would you do that? And how does that feel?
It’s clearly easy to force and the chance is that you’ve done it all your life, and it’s almost like we’ve forgotten how to live according to our own authority and our own heart. Instead we sell ourselves short, force our bodies, minds and heart to play a game that was not for us in the first place. And then we struggle….no wonder!
The answer to the struggle is to realise that when you act, do, be in a way that fully resonates with you, and when you can follow your inner passionate energy, this will always bring you joy, health and abundance. If you don’t you’re postponing the very same things. It’s a similar way like with emotional eating, and not allowing yourself to stop and listen and address what’s really going on. (see my post about emotional eating)
So instead of forcing yourself, remind yourself everyday to listen to what your body and heart are telling you and sooner than later the day arrives when you have come closer to home, and when you can see clearly what is you, what is for you, what is not you and what is not for you.
I challenge you to Go Play this day, the way YOU want to!
